表彰理由
荻原 哲 OGIHARA, Satoshi（17期 ID73）
荻原哲氏は大阪大学名誉教授として細胞生物学の研究・教育に長く従事し、学界において高い評価を得てきた。2012年、大学と地域をつなぐ文化の場として「ワンコイン市民コンサート」を立ち上げ、月１回のクラシック公演を豊中キャンパスの大阪大学会館講堂で継続している。学生・教職員に加え広く日本全国から聴衆が足を運び、現在では国内外の優れた演奏家が出演を希望するまでに成長した。学生団体との協働やCD制作、演奏アーカイブ公開など活動の幅を広げ、知を社会へ開く「公共性」の実践を10年以上にわたり重ねてきた。その科学と芸術を往還する姿勢は、ICUのリベラルアーツ精神を体現するものである。
Satoshi Ogihara, Professor Emeritus at Osaka University, has made longstanding contributions to the field of cell biology through his research and teaching. Alongside his academic career, he has devoted more than a decade to fostering cultural exchange between the university and the local community. In 2012, he founded the “One-Coin Concert for ALL,” a monthly classical music series held at Osaka University Hall. Originally conceived for students, faculty, and staff, the series now draws audiences from all across Japan, and has grown to the point where outstanding performers from both home and abroad actively seek to appear. The initiative has expanded through collaborations with student ensembles, the publication of performance archives, and the production of several concert CDs, deepening its presence both on and off campus. By opening the university’s cultural resources to the wider public, Ogihara has cultivated a shared space in which academic inquiry and artistic expression coexist. His sustained commitment to creating an inclusive cultural sphere exemplifies the values embodied in a liberal arts education and reflects ideals long upheld by International Christian University.
阿部 菜穂子 ABE, Naoko (25期 ID81)
1981年にICUを卒業後、毎日新聞で初の女性政治記者として首相官邸などを担当。2001年からは英国を拠点にフリージャーナリスト兼作家として日英両言語で執筆活動を続け、活躍している。2016年に出版された著書「チェリー・イングラム――日本の桜を救ったイギリス人」は、第64回日本エッセイスト・クラブ賞を受賞。2019年には英語版を執筆・刊行。同書は8か国語に翻訳されて多くの賞を受賞し、BBC「Book of the Week」にも選ばれた。本書は、日本で絶滅した桜を里帰りさせたイギリス人園芸家、コリングウッド・イングラムの伝記である。さらに2024年には「The Martyr and the Red Kimono」を英語で出版。同書を自身で翻訳した日本語版「アウシュビッツの聖人を追いかけて――ある被爆者と桜守の物語」が2025年夏、刊行された。この本は、戦前に長崎で修道院を創設し、アウシュビッツで殉教したポーランド人司祭マキシミリアノ・コルベ神父、長崎の被爆者、そして北海道の桜守、の三人の物語を通して、平和を大切さを訴える内容である。第二次世界大戦の記憶が薄れつつある中、「戦争を二度と起こしてはならない」という強いメッセージを伝えている。昨年、ノーベル平和賞委員会に招かれてオスロを訪問し、フリードネス委員長と面会。広島・長崎の原爆とその影響について語った。
After graduating from ICU in 1981, Naoko Abe worked as the first female political reporter for the Mainichi Shimbun, covering the prime minister's office, among others. In the UK, where she moved in 2001, she became a freelance journalist and author, writing in both English and Japanese. Her 2016 Japanese book, “'Cherry' Ingram, The Englishman Who Saved Japan's Blossoms”, won the prestigious Nihon Essayist Club Award. She published the English adaptation in 2019. It has been translated into eight languages, winning numerous awards and being named BBC Book of the Week. The book is a biography of Collingwood Ingram, an Englishman who successfully brought back cherry trees to Japan that were thought to have become extinct. In 2024, Abe published “The Martyr and the Red Kimono” in English. She translated it into Japanese, which was published last year as “Chasing the Saint of Auschwitz: The Story of a Hibakusha and a Sakuramori”. The book advocates for peace through the story of three people: a Polish priest, Father Maximilian Kolbe, who founded a monastery in Nagasaki before the war and was killed in Auschwitz; a Nagasaki atomic bomb survivor; and a Hokkaido cherry tree creator. The book conveys the message that war must never happen again as memories of the Second World War fade. Abe was invited to Oslo last year to talk to the chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize committee, Jørgen Frydnes, about the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings and their aftermath.

3人は、機能的近赤外分光法（fNIRS : functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy）と呼ばれる、近赤外光を用いて脳の活動を測定する認知脳科学の計測手法に創成期から25年以上にわたって関わってきた。fNIRSを用いた脳科学研究の発展に大きく貢献し、3人とも国際fNIRS学会の理事（Board of Directors）にアジア・オセアニア代表として選出されている。 fNIRSは乳幼児を含む幅広い層に対して、また運動時などにも計測が可能という利点があり、認知科学や医学分野など幅広い場面で国際的に用いられている。 認知脳科学を軸としながらも3人のアプローチはそれぞれ異なり、皆川泰代は慶應義塾大学文学部、檀一平太は中央大学理工学部、佐藤大樹は芝浦工業大学システム理工学部でそれぞれ現在教授を務め、研究にあたっている。
The three researchers, Yasuyo Minagawa, Ippeita Dan and Hiroki Sato, have been involved in functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), a cognitive neuroscience measurement technique that uses near-infrared light to measure brain activity, for over 25 years since its inception, and have made significant contributions to the development of this method and neuroscience research using it. They were also elected to the Board of Directors of the International Society for fNIRS as Asia-Oceania representatives. This method has the advantage of being able to measure a wide range of populations, including infants, and even during exercise, and is used internationally in a wide range of fields, including cognitive science and medicine. While their core research is cognitive neuroscience, the three researchers each have different approaches. Yasuyo Minagawa is currently a professor at Keio University's Faculty of Letters, Ippeita Dan at Chuo University's Faculty of Science and Technology, and Hiroki Sato at Shibaura Institute of Technology's School of Systems Engineering and Science.
一之瀬 ちひろ ICHINOSE, Chihiro（42期 ID98）
ICU卒業後、東京大学大学院に進学。写真家として美術館やギャラリーで精力的に作品を発表している。2016年のZINE『日常と憲法』を契機に、日常における「個」と「公」の関係を探求する制作に取り組み、2019年には個展「きみのせかいをつつむひかり（あるいは国家）について」を開催。近年は、川内有緒氏の著書『ロッコク・キッチン』（『群像』連載、講談社刊）の写真を担当し、本作が第35回Bunkamuraドゥマゴ文学賞を受賞した。震災から13年を経た福島の人々の暮らしを「食」を通して描いた本作は、静かながらも人間的な記録として高い評価を得ている。大学院では映像作家ジョナス・メカスを研究対象とし博士論文を執筆、上映会や講演も行っている。長年、ICU同窓会誌『アラムナイニュース』の撮影も担当し、同窓会活動にも貢献している。
Born in Musashino, Tokyo, Chihiro Ichinose is a photographer whose work explores the relationship between the personal and the public in everyday life. After graduating from ICU, she pursued graduate studies at the University of Tokyo. She has been actively exhibiting her work in museums and galleries. Her 2016 ZINE Daily Life and the Constitution marked a turning point in her career, followed by the 2019 solo exhibition About the light (or a nation) around you. Most recently, Ichinose provided the photographs for Rokkoku Kitchen, written by Ario Kawauchi and serialized in Gunzo (Kodansha), which won the 35th Prix Des Deux Magots Bunkamura in 2025. Through depictions of everyday life along Fukushima’s Route 6, her work has been highly praised for capturing the quiet resilience of people rebuilding after the disaster. Ichinose also contributes to the ICU Alumni Association, serving as a long-time photographer for ALUMNI NEWS.
笹島 綾花 SASAJIMA, Ayaka（54期 ID10）
WBSCソフトボール国際審判員。中学の部活動でソフトボールを始め、ICU在学中はソフトボール部に所属。選手として活動するかたわら公式審判員の資格を取得した。その後、審判員としてのキャリアを重ね、2017年国際審判員資格を取得。日本国内最高峰のソフトボールトップリーグで審判員をつとめる一方、アメリカなど各国で開催された国際大会に審判として派遣され、世界と日本の審判文化の違いを身をもって経験するなど、研鑽を積んだ。2021年には東京オリンピックのソフトボール競技公式審判員に日本代表審判員３人のうちの1人として出場し学生時代からの夢をかなえた。現在も卒業以来勤務している医療機関での業務を継続しながら、国際舞台で培ったコミュニケーション力も活かし世界に通用する国際審判員として日本のトップリーグでの審判員を務めている。また、所属する小金井市ソフトボール連盟では審判長を務めるなど地域活動への貢献も行っている。
WBSC（World Baseball Softball Confederation）International Softball Umpire. She began playing softball as a member of her junior high school club, and while studying at ICU, she joined the university’s softball team. Alongside her activities as a player, she obtained certification as an official umpire. Building her career step by step, she later earned the qualification of international umpire in 2017. In Japan, she has served as the umpire at the nation’s highest-level softball top league games. Internationally, she was dispatched to tournaments held in countries such as the United States, where she gained firsthand experience of the differences between Japanese and global umpiring cultures, further honing her skills. In 2021, she fulfilled her long-held dream by serving as one of only three Japanese representatives selected as official softball umpires for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Currently, while continuing her work at the medical institution where she has been employed since graduation, she also officiates in Japan’s softball top league as an internationally recognized umpire, applying the communication skills she cultivated on the global stage. In addition, she contributes to her local community as an umpire chief of Koganei softball federation.
